The Icon Tools - And Still the Turtle Watched

Question#1: You are all getting so great at using the icon tools to help you think about and analyze what you’ve read in class! I am super impressed!

  5. Unanswered question - Why did the boys do garfiti on the turttle, and the rocks? Did they know that the turttle was there? Did the turttle know what was happening to him? Did the turttle ever walk or move? Why did the boys do garfiti? The book you read was sort of sad with a happy ending like all books. Well some books. And I liked your answer Veronika. I was thinking something like that to, as Miss Ziskind was reading the book. I wonder if the turttle liked his/her new home. I cant wait to comment soon again.

  12. this turtle was so sad because it didn't had friends and his/her heart were crack/broken.and for me it was kind sad because the turtle got blined and it didn't had so much friends and for my opinion the turtle were really nice and this turtle wanned have friend and everybody left her alone and she got blined but now she has a house. This story was kind sad and happy well happy because she got new home and sad part when her/his heart were broken and i am so happy this turtle have new home!!!

  22. I forget what over time means, but here is a try. The turtle always gets attention but one day the attention went down. bad things started to happen. this was happening when the indians were around.

  24. over time - Over time the kids kept coming to the turtle and then left him for a long time. Later older boys came to him and then they never came back. Next an older man came to him, then took the turtle somewhere so kids would come and see him again.

    Over time means what happens in the past, then what happens in the present, then what happens in the future.

  27. Over time- the turtle was loved then people stopped liking it then people liked it again.
    big idea- even if something is old it still can be loved.
    detail- the turtle got worn out.
    Language of the discipline-worn out,eroded,Indians, turtle.
    Across disciplines- It talked about things that happened a long time ago when there was Indian tribes=history. And then it talked about science when the turtle statue got eroded.
    Unanswered questions-How did the turtle think
    or cry in its head. It was solid rock.
    the Indians carved it.
    Patterns- the turtle was loved then it was hated then it was loved again.
    Multiple perspectives- the gangsters did not care for the turtle statue but the Indians loved it.
    Trends- the turtle statue was popular most of the time.

You rock! Maybe I will see you someday at the university! I have an unanswered question: Does anyone think they might go to see the turtle if you visit New York someday?
